Trauma Care Alberta, part of Acute Care Alberta is seeking an individual for the role of Senior Analyst, Team Lead to provide technical expertise in providing consistent, timely, and accurate data to inform trauma care across the province. You’re a strategic, systems thinking, analytical problem-solver who can spot and understand the patterns in the data. In this role, you’ll support leadership decision-making, help ensure efficient and effective use of resources, and identify emerging trends and opportunities for improvement in service delivery and patient outcomes. You’ll take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions as you provide analytics and help translate the raw data into actionable insights. As this position is provincial in scope, this position’s location is negotiable and eligible for a remote/hybrid work arrangement within Alberta. The Senior Data Analyst, Team Lead is a key leadership role within Trauma Care Alberta. Reporting to the Senior Program Lead, the Team Lead guides a team of analysts to develop and maintain systems, tools, and metrics that ensure accurate and timely data to support high‑quality trauma care across Alberta. As the Lead, you will work with TCA leadership to promote data‑driven, evidence‑based practices and to establish outcomes and benchmarks for pediatric and adult trauma patients. You will provide reliable metrics to track progress on key performance indicators that strengthen system sustainability and optimize trauma care delivery. As the Team Lead, you will refine priorities to support efficient resource use while considering patient impacts and outcomes. Serving as the provincial expert on the Trauma Registry, you will oversee data abstraction, validation, and sharing. As the Team Lead, you’ll direct provincial analysis, support site‑level analysis, and fulfill internal and external data requests for research and quality improvement. Responsibilities include liaising with internal and external stakeholders to determine data needs, communicate limitations, interpret metrics, and identify improvement opportunities. These collaborations with clinical and technical teams ensure clinical validation of data, support quality improvement, and tailor data to diverse audiences. As Team Lead, you’ll also supervise unionized and non‑unionized professionals, providing coaching, mentoring, and support opportunities for development while ensuring completion of team objectives.

Has a Master’s degree in a data and analytics related field (e.g., health economics, mathematics, statistics, health sciences, epidemiology, etc.) and five (5) years of applicable experience. Or a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and eight (8) years of applicable experience.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Advanced data analysis, interpretation, and reporting, including data abstraction, validation, and quality assurance. Strong basic statistical skills and ability to develop, track, and interpret KPIs. Knowledge of the provincial trauma system and ability to apply system‑level understanding to data insights. Skilled at identifying data limitations and proposing solutions. High proficiency with Microsoft Office. Strong critical thinking, creative problem solving, and sound judgment in ambiguous situations. Demonstrated leadership and decision‑making ability. Experience supervising and coaching staff, supporting development, and managing team deliverables. Strong planning, prioritization, and workload‑management skills. Ability to lead change initiatives and conduct environmental scans for best practices. Skilled in improving processes to enhance efficiency and data quality. Excellent written and interpersonal communication, with ability to tailor data presentations to diverse audiences. Strong relationship‑building skills with internal, external, and clinical partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
A combination of qualifications and experience may be considered. Trauma registry and Trauma Quality Improvement Program experience. Abbreviated Injury Scale Certification (AIS), Certified Abbreviated Injury Scale Specialist (CAISS), Alberta Improvement Way (AIW), PROSCI ADKAR®, or equivalent Lean and Six Sigma certification considered assets.
