Your Opportunity:

Adult Community Services in Lethbridge is seeking an enthusiastic temporary 1.0FTE Addiction Counsellor IV to lead our team in the delivery of the continuum of recovery orientated addiction services. In this leadership role, you will lead and support Addiction Services staff at the Lethbridge Train Station, guiding day to day operations and ensuring high quality, client centered and culturally responsive care. You will provide clinical practice leadership, offer guidance on complex cases, help to inform the team on use of evidence-based treatment approaches, support achievement of documentation standards, and overall work to optimize programs. Additional areas will include the coordination of daily workflow, scheduling, performance monitoring in collaboration with the clinical supervisor and program manager and fostering strong relationships with community partners to ensure coordinated, client focused care. Along with lead responsibilities, this role includes supporting clients with complex or concurrent needs, providing crisis intervention when required, and potentially carrying a limited caseload. Your expertise in substance use, concurrent disorders, trauma informed care, motivational interviewing and team development will be key to strengthening service delivery and supporting a high performing team within our community.

Description:

As an Addiction Counsellor IV, you will provide clinical supervision to the Addiction Services team, coordinate the day-to-day operations as well as delivery of addiction services and programs. Responsibilities include the provision of addiction practice expertise, operational supervision of the Addiction Services team, development and coordination of the treatment and/or prevention program and may provide direct client care or deliver prevention programming. The Addiction Counsellor IV supports the growth and development of addictions staff to deliver safe and effective addiction practice that is concurrent capable. This includes therapeutic screening, assessment and counselling; psychoeducational and therapeutic group sessions; and prevention interventions. The Addiction Counsellor IV designs, implements and evaluates addiction programs and services consistent with Recovery Alberta policies and practices.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a health related field.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor’s degree in a health-related field plus a Diploma in Addictions Counselling or course work in Addictions Counselling or equivalent education and experience. Minimum 5 years direct counselling experience in providing substance abuse and/or mental health services. Minimum 1 year leadership experience in the direct supervision of staff. Experience facilitating individual and group therapy related to substance use and mental health. Experience with presentations and facilitating psychoeducational learning sessions. Knowledge and skills of assessment techniques in determining suicide risk.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Social Work or a Master’s Degree in a health-related field focused on Addictions and Mental Health. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Certification. Basic Cardiac Life Support for Healthcare Providers level C (BCLS-HCP). A strong understanding of Concurrent Capable Practices, Trauma informed, group facilitation.
