Instructor - Clinical Nurse Educator
Your Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced addiction and mental health professional. Reporting to the Program Manager, the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) provides staff education, orientation, training, and mentorship across the Outreach Services portfolio, with primary responsibility for supporting the Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT) in Edmonton. ACT delivers evidence-based, recovery-oriented, and culturally responsive care to adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, addiction, and houselessness. Services are primarily provided through community outreach and in collaboration with clients, families, service providers, and community partners. Working closely with leadership, the CNE assesses learning needs, develops and evaluates educational initiatives, and promotes clinical competency across the multidisciplinary team. The CNE serves as a clinical resource and role model, supporting professional development and best practices. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in severe and persistent mental health and addiction disorders, comprehensive assessment, crisis intervention, treatment of complex needs, risk assessment, and clinical documentation. Experience providing education, training, and/or mentorship is required, as are strong verbal and written communication skills.
Description:
As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of Recovery Alberta.

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:3-5 years of relevant addiction and mental health experience, with at least 3 of those years in a community setting. Knowledge of adult learning principles and a variety of education delivery and evaluation methods. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Candidate must be able to tolerate regular repetitive hand movements, keyboarding and telephone handling.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience working with unhoused individuals is preferred. A strong understanding of client resources in the community and knowledge of mental health legislation including Community Treatment Orders is an asset. Strong skill set with electronic medical recording (EMR/Connect Care). Maintains professional discipline specific competency through ongoing professional development.
