As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team in the in-patient acute psychiatric nursing unit collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of individuals, families and communities. You provide excellence in nursing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care developing strong skills in mental status assessment, de-escalation, and conflict resolution. The opportunity to be a strong advocate for the patient is an integral role. You will develop your group facilitation skills as all nursing staff within AMH are responsible for facilitating and delivering group content to the patients.

You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and Recovery Alberta policies and procedures. Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of four months Addiction and Mental Health experience. Understanding of DSM-V, Alberta Mental Health Act, and other governing standards/legislation for practice. Basic knowledge of Addiction and Mental Health diagnosis, symptomatology and treatment modalities/interventions.
Preferred Qualifications:Non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) training. Knowledge of verbal de-escalation techniques required. Experience in various risk assessments i.e. Suicide risk, Homicidal risk, violent risk assessments. Excellent judgment & critical thinking skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be computer proficient on Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
