Your Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly skilled, team oriented and dynamic individual to join our Mental Health and Addiction Intensive Outreach Team in Medicine Hat. As a Mental Health Therapist, you will provide psychotherapy to older adults and seniors experiencing addiction and/or mental health issues using a variety of evidence-based treatment modalities. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment. You will maintain accurate and appropriate documentation on client files in a timely fashion. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator with strong organizational skills and have a demonstrated ability to work with older adults and seniors experiencing addiction and/or mental health issues. Your responsibilities will also include liaising and working in partnership with community stakeholders, other professionals and physicians in the continuum of addiction and mental Health recovery-oriented care.This position may qualify for a recruitment incentive of up to $13,000 over 12 months. Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:Completion of one of the following programs will be considered: Bachelor of Social Work including training and experience in mental health assessment and psychotherapy and who have Restricted Psychosocial Intervention Authorization. Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing or Psychiatric Nursing with: a. Related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or b. Experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health experience. Recent experience working with older adults impacted by addiction and/or mental health issues. Experience in liaising and working in partnership with community stakeholders, other professionals and physicians in the continuum of Addiction and Mental Health care.
Preferred Qualifications:Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload. NVCI certification, BLS/first aid and suicide intervention training preferred. Previous experience with screening tools (GAS, GDS and SLUMS), assessment and provision of psychotherapy with seniors preferred. Previous experience with connect care preferred.
