Your Opportunity:

As a Psychologist I, you will work with or within teams to provide a range of psychology services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives, and policies for the work environment. Your services may include: psychological assessment, diagnosing, consultation, group facilitation, as well as education activities. The primary focus of this position is assessment with youth between 13-18 years of age on an acute mental health inpatient unit and an acute outpatient adolescent mental health clinic. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in assessing symptomology and planning services that align with best practice and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological findings, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consult/collaborate with teams and community services. Your duties may also include facilitating groups, supervising psychology trainees and participating on committees. This position works at South Health Campus supporting both the Inpatient Unit - Unit 56A and the Outpatient Clinic - Clinic 5B which both provide mental health treatment to youth (aged 13 to 17) and their families who are experiencing acute mental health concerns. This position works 0800-1815 Tuesday to Friday.

Your services may include psychological screening and/or assessment, diagnosis, interventions, rehabilitation, prevention and promotion, as well as educational activities. You will collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals in planning and implementing services that align with best practices and ethical and professional standards. You will provide input to the interprofessional team related to psychological factors, barriers and dynamics that influence client treatment planning, participation, outcomes and team functioning, and consult and collaborate with teams and community services. Your duties may also include providing supervision to psychometrists, provisional psychologists and/or masters level psychology students, and providing input into program, policy and/or procedure development in addition to participating in formal research initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from an accredited university program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Preferred Qualifications:

Competency in the administration and interpretation of assessment measures for personality constructs (e.g., MMPI-A RF, MACI-II). Competency in the administration and interpretation of assessment measures for autism (e.g., ADI-R, ADOS-2). Training and experience in trauma- and attachment-informed care.
