Registered Nurse
Your Opportunity:
Are you passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based care to patients during critical moments in their lives? The Concurrent Disorder Unit (CDU), opening at the Peter Lougheed Centre, is seeking experienced RNs and RPNs to join our multidisciplinary team. The CDU is a twelve-bed inpatient unit intended to support patients with concurrent mental health and substance use disorders. The team will provide evidence-based stabilization and recovery-oriented care for adults requiring medical withdrawal management and acute psychiatric stabilization. This will include both voluntary and involuntary patients. As an RN/RPN, you will deliver safe, trauma-informed nursing care to patients through withdrawal management, recovery-oriented care, and discharge/transition planning. You will monitor physical and mental health, administer medications, and support recovery goals. Working to your full scope of practice you will also coordinate care and collaborate with social workers, physicians, and other professionals on the multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care. This will include screening and assessment, group programming delivery, and individual goal setting and care planning. The RN/RPN will also provide a leadership role within the team to mentor and supervise unregulated health care workers. The ideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning, self-motivation, and self-care, and the ability to remain adaptable and flexible in a high-acuity environment. Strong ethical conduct and professionalism are essential, along with effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Cultural competence is critical to providing safe and inclusive care, and creativity and innovation are valued for problem-solving and improving care delivery.
