Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience working with children, youth, and families is required. Minimum one-year recent inpatient psychiatry experience required. Physically able to lift up to 11 kg, climb three flights of stairs, participate in recreational/gym activities, and safely escort children to a seclusion room, or participate in physical interventions when required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with children and youth experiencing significant mental health and behavioural challenges including psychiatric dysregulation, anger, anxiety, and crisis behaviours. Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) preferred; equivalent community nursing experience will be considered. Current Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) certification and demonstrated proficiency in de-escalation techniques preferred. Experience with nasogastric feeding tube insertion and maintenance, PICC line maintenance, and pediatric/adolescent mental health nursing preferred. Minimum two years of current pediatric/adolescent mental health nursing experience preferred.
