Licensed Practical Nurse
Your Opportunity:
Reporting to the manager of the Neuromodulation Department at Peter Lougheed Center, the position will support patients through ECT, RTMS and ketamine treatment from assessment to recovery. The LPN will provide safe professional nursing care for patients receiving ECT, RTMS and Ketamine under the standards as defined by CLPNA. The position will function in a multidisciplinary team and deliver care based on sound clinical assessment and professional judgment. The position will utilize the nursing process, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills to provide smooth transition through post-ECT/rTMS/ketamine recovery phase. The position will adhere to their respective Professional Practice Standards and Code of Ethics of Recovery Alberta. The position may be required to support patients on the inpatient unit.

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:3-5 years of acute mental health nursing experience, Competence in administering IV medications and initiating IVs. Experience administering IV Ketamine or working within a Ketamine treatment program is preferred. Familiarity with psychiatric disorders commonly requiring ECT, rTMS or Ketamine treatment Non-violent crisis intervention (NVCI) and BLS Strong communication skills Ability to demonstrate flexibility, problem-solving skills, and an aptitude for dealing with challenging situations. Knowledge of community-based care options is beneficial. Understanding of the Mental Health Act and DSM-V Proficient in Connect Care and Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in supporting with ECT, rTMS and ketamine delivery
