Licensed Practical Nurse

The Concurrent Disorder Unit (CDU), opening at the Peter Lougheed Centre, is seeking experienced LPNs to join our multidisciplinary team. The CDU is a twelve-bed inpatient unit intended to support patients with concurrent mental health and substance use disorders. The team will provide evidence-based stabilization and recovery-oriented care for adults requiring medical withdrawal management and acute psychiatric stabilization. This will include both voluntary and involuntary patients. As an LPN, you will deliver safe, trauma-informed nursing care to patients through withdrawal management, recovery-oriented care, and discharge/transition planning. You will monitor physical and mental health, administer medications, and support recovery goals. You will collaborate with Social Workers, Addictions Counsellors, physicians, and other professionals on the multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and Recovery Alberta policies and procedures. Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 2 years of experience working with at risk populations in an addiction and mental health capacity. Skilled in de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention and Motivational Interviewing. Understanding of cultural safety and indigenous health perspectives.
Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of addiction and recovery principles and trauma informed care. Experience working in acute psychiatric inpatient settings, emergency department and/or medically supported detoxification units.
