Your Opportunity:
Reporting to and working under the supervision of the Care Manager, the Intake Addiction and Mental Health Therapist works interdependently with a team of mental health professionals. The Intake Therapist is the first point of contact for the Children, Youth and Families Addiction and Mental Health Program, with the majority of the work being conducted over the telephone. Having the primary responsibility for Intake & Urgent referrals, the incumbent requires extensive addiction and mental health knowledge and skills to screen and triage all requests for service and information. Role also includes working with community partners to provide education & support to enhance client care utilizing a family centered care framework. High expectations exist regarding accessibility, effectiveness & appropriateness of response & decision making. Screening & triage decisions are based on clinical findings gathered from individuals & referring or collateral sources.

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.
Additional Required Qualifications:Consideration will also be given to Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or considerable experience in mental health assessment and treatment. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health experience. A minimum of 3 years direct crisis experience, preferably in a community setting. Formal clinical training in triage, intervention, stabilization and case management skills, preferably in a community setting. Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community.
Preferred Qualifications:Connect Care experience is preferred.
